4. Rifle Equipment Rules:
-
Iron sights and/or a single optic may be used on the
rifle during the match. If two optics are mounted on the rifle, the shooter
must declare which one of the two will be used for the entire match.
-
Variable power optics must be set on the lowest power
setting until after the start signal.
-
Laser aiming devices and tactical lights may be
mounted on the rifle but may not be used during the match.
-
Bipods may be used but must remain attached to the
rifle during the entire match.
-
Slings may be used but must remain attached to the
rifle during the entire match.
-
Magazine couplers are permitted but, if couplers are
used, magazines must be coupled for every stage of the match.
-
Muzzle devices larger than one (1) inch in diameter
may not be used. Legally possessed sound-suppressors which lack externally
visible baffles or ports are exempt from this rule.
5. Ammunition Restrictions:
-
Absolutely NO armor piercing, NO steel core (e.g.,
green tip .223), and NO ballistic/plastic tip (e.g., Hornady TAP) ammunition
is permitted during stages which include steel targets.
6. Safety Rules:
-
No fully automatic fire/burst fire/bump fire is
permitted. Rifles that repeatedly double shall be removed from the match.
-
The rifle must have a chamber safety flag installed at
all times (except during the course-of-fire after the “Load & Make Ready”
command has been issued by the Safety Officer). The “Unload and Show Clear”
procedure is complete ONLY after the rifle is verified unloaded, the chamber
is flagged and the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction.
-
The muzzle must remain pointed in a safe direction
(up, down or at the berm) at all times regardless of chamber load status. Be
especially careful to not point the rifle towards any person while staging
or storing the weapon.
7. Course of Fire Rules:
-
The holstered handgun must be worn by the shooter
throughout the match unless otherwise specified in the course-of-fire.
Shooters must ensure proper holster retention to avoid dislodging the
handgun during a rifle course-of-fire.
-
Pistol caliber carbines (and other rifles) may not be
used to shoot stages defined as pistol-only. The prescribed handgun for the
respective division shall be used.
-
Proper use of cover is required during reloads and
while engaging targets. However, there is no requirement for the shooter to
transfer the rifle to the support side unless specified in the
course-of-fire.
-
Total string round count may exceed the normal 18
round IDPA maximum.
8. Scoring:
-
Standard IDPA scoring rules apply.
-
Reduced-size IPSC target points are scored: A/B = 0
points down, C = 1 point down, D = 3 points down, M = 5 points down.
Please share any ideas or changes that you would like
to see made to the above rules.
